  • Soliciting other students for business, services, or money without prior permission.
Reporting: If you experience or witness conduct that violates these standards, please report it to support@byteedu.in. All reports are confidential and taken seriously. Retaliation against reporters is itself a violation of these Terms.

ByteEdu reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to our services at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or engaged in conduct harmful to other users, mentors, or ByteEdu.

In cases of minor violations, we will typically issue a warning first. Serious violations (such as harassment, fraud, or illegal activity) may result in immediate permanent bans without prior notice or refund.

You may also close your account at any time by contacting us or using the account deletion option in your settings. Closing your account does not waive any obligations you have already incurred.

§ 09

  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access to our services.

Cookie Policy
Exactly what cookies we set, why, and how you can control them.
📅 Effective : March 29, 2026 🕐 ~8 min read 🍪 7 cookies in use
§ 01

🍪 What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your browser when you visit. They help websites remember information about your visit — such as whether you're logged in, your language preference, or items in a shopping cart.

Beyond traditional cookies, we also use similar technologies such as localStorage, sessionStorage, and web beacons (also called tracking pixels). All of these are covered by this policy when we refer to "cookies."

Our Approach: We believe in data minimisation. We use the fewest cookies possible to run our platform effectively. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
§ 02

📂 Types of Cookies We Use

We categorise our cookies into four types based on their purpose:

Category Description Can You Opt Out?
Strictly Necessary Essential for the platform to function. Includes authentication, session management, and security tokens. No — platform won't work without these
Functional Remember your preferences such as dark/light mode, language, and display settings. Yes — but preferences won't be saved
Analytics Help us understand how users navigate the platform so we can improve it. We use Plausible Analytics (privacy-first, no personal data). Yes
Marketing Currently not in use. We do not run ad campaigns or retargeting. This may change in future with your consent. N/A — not used
§ 03

📋 Complete Cookie Inventory

Below is every cookie and local storage key ByteEdu currently sets, what it does, and how long it persists:

Name Type Category Purpose Expiry Third Party?
be_session Cookie Necessary Authenticates your logged-in session. Prevents you from having to log in on every page. 30 days (sliding) No
be_csrf Cookie Necessary Cross-Site Request Forgery protection token. Prevents malicious websites from performing actions on your behalf. Session No
byteEduTheme localStorage Functional Stores your dark/light mode preference so it persists across sessions. Persistent (until cleared) No
be_lang localStorage Functional Stores your language preference (currently EN only; reserved for future use). Persistent (until cleared) No
be_enrol_* sessionStorage Functional Temporarily tracks which session detail pages you've viewed or enrolled in during your current browser session. Browser session No
_plausible localStorage Analytics Used by Plausible Analytics to deduplicate page view counts. Contains no personal data — only a random identifier that resets daily. 24 hours Yes — Plausible Analytics
__stripe_mid Cookie Necessary Set by Razorpay/Stripe on payment pages only. Required for fraud detection during payment processing. 1 year (payment pages only) Yes — Razorpay
No tracking pixels or ad cookies: ByteEdu does not use Facebook Pixel, Google Ads tags, or any other cross-site advertising trackers. Your browsing activity on ByteEdu is never shared with advertising platforms.
§ 04

🌐 Third-Party Services & Their Cookies

Some features of ByteEdu embed third-party services. When you use these features, those third parties may also set cookies subject to their own privacy policies:

  • Google Meet / YouTube (Session Videos): When you join a live session or watch an embedded recording, Google may set cookies. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Plausible Analytics: Privacy-first analytics tool. Does not use persistent cookies or personal identifiers. Plausible Privacy Policy.
  • Razorpay: Payment processing, active on payment pages only. Razorpay Privacy Policy.
  • Discord Widget: If you use the community Discord widget embedded on the platform, Discord may set cookies. Discord Privacy Policy.
§ 05

🎛️ Your Cookie Preferences

You can control which non-essential cookies ByteEdu uses. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled as the platform won't function without them.

Strictly Necessary
Authentication, security tokens, and session management. Required for the platform to work. Cannot be disabled.
Functional
Saves your preferences like dark mode, display settings, and recently viewed sessions for a better experience.
Analytics
Helps us understand how students use the platform so we can improve it. All data is anonymised and aggregated — no personal identifiers are tracked.
Marketing
Not currently in use. ByteEdu does not run ad campaigns. This toggle is reserved for future use if we introduce marketing features.
✅ Preferences saved! Your choices will be respected from now on.
§ 06

🌐 Controlling Cookies via Your Browser

In addition to our preference centre above, you can manage cookies directly through your browser settings. Here's how to do it in the most common browsers:

BrowserHow to Manage Cookies
Chrome Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
Firefox Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
Safari Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
Edge Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
Opera Settings → Advanced → Privacy & security → Cookies
Note: Blocking all cookies will prevent you from logging in and using core features of ByteEdu. We recommend only blocking third-party cookies if you need stricter privacy, rather than blocking all cookies.
§ 07

🛑 Do Not Track (DNT) Signals

Some browsers allow you to send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal to websites. ByteEdu respects DNT signals — when a DNT signal is detected from your browser, we automatically disable all non-essential cookies (analytics) for that session.

Because there is currently no universally accepted standard for interpreting DNT signals, our response is to opt you out of analytics tracking only. Strictly necessary cookies for login and security remain active as they are required for the service to function.

§ 08
